I am so thrilled you are interested in my teaching studio. For over 25 years, I have coached students, taught masterclasses around the world, and offered private piano lessons to students of all ages and levels. I am also part of the esteemed Music and Piano Faculty at DePaul University in Chicago, and the highly revered pre-college, The Music Institute of Chicago.

I love sharing my experience of performance and practice techniques to my students. Having  participated and placed in a vast array of national and international piano competitions, I have a deep understanding of the steps it takes to excel and perfect a piece or technique for any concert. I am confident that my techniques can help you be successful and productive at ANY level.

Beyond technique, I believe through music, people can embrace their imagination and creativity. A student once told me “You have a way of reaching the soul of each piece and making it sound more musical and personal”. I truly believe that everyone deserves to be able to express themselves, and music is a wonderful medium to channel this expression. As your skills develop through my guidance, this channel of creativity can expand and provide a liberating feeling of personal and artistic satisfaction.

My studio is welcoming with a  friendly atmosphere, open to any piece of music, new or old.  I have worked with many great classical composers of our time, and welcome any new 20th century music you want to master.

TESTIMONIALS

“I am in my second year of masters degree in piano performance. Marta has been my chamber class coach for two years and I have studied with her in both private lessons and chamber class.

She is one of most easy-going, professional teacher I have ever had. She knows exactly how to help me in every way and I have learned so much from her, both in musicality and in virtuosity. I had one of the best classes on Beethoven piano trio and she had helped me improve my sound tremendously, I learned how to practice hard stuff efficiently, how to have different mindset for different movements, and how to touch keys differently to get profound sounds.

She is so funny, and so easy to work with! She is the reason I am staying in this graduate program, and I never regret any lesson I had with her. I knew she had won so many competitions and had achieved many awards, but she is always so down-to-earth, giving her best in every lesson. I am truly grateful that I get to know her and have her as my teacher.”

“I would attribute much of my technical and musical development to Marta Aznavoorian. Each lesson, she was very attentive and insightful to every detail of my playing. Along with being an incredible private teacher, she is a wonderful chamber coach. Ms. Aznavoorian led my chamber groups to performances across the Chicago-land area in venues including Chicago Symphony Center, Chicago Cultural Center, and Ravinia Festival.

Overall, Marta Aznavoorian was one of the best teachers I have ever worked with, and I highly recommend her to any student wishing to further their musical career.”

 - Jonathan Cruz

“As a concert pianist, Ms. Aznavoorian has proved herself a gifted and confident soloist performer, and a thoughtful and sensitive collaborative artist. Moreover, Ms. Aznavoorian displayed the relaxed stage presence and friendly personality that are such important qualities to bridge the gap for classical music to our audiences. Ms. Aznavoorian transfers this relaxed atmosphere into her lesson studio; putting the students at ease and bringing out the unique musical qualities of each and every one of them.”

- Bill Jones, Director of Salon Concert Series, MD

“I love Marta's teaching style - she is always respectful and encouraging, while being honest and analytical at the same. She is a 'big picture' teacher; I like how she gets an overall impression of what ever I bring to the lesson, then progressively zooms in on whatever aspects need attention. She is also very effective in teaching online.”

- Joanne McDade, Piano Teacher and Life-long Learner

“She is a remarkable piano teacher!  Extremely talented, knowledgable and professional. She has been teaching my 16 year old daughter for over 4 years. She is extremely patient and kind, and my daughter is very connected to her personally.”
